Danmark Stamps

One of the many things I collect are vintage stamps. I didn't start the collection on my own, though. The pile you see here are various stamps from different countries such as Germany and Danmark. These were originally collected by my Oma (danish for grandma). Among the whole briefcase full of these, the assortment of Danmark stamps is prominent. My Oma and Opa had family there (being Danish and all, lol) and they both would stash the stamps away as proof of their legacy, little gum-backed memories to share with their children and grandchildren.
I need a good way to store these, as well as display them. As of right now, I have them packed away in the vintage briefcase in which they were given me. But, such beauties should be displayed and seen......there are the obvious ways.....using them in different types of altered art, etc. But, I'd really like to display them without having to glue them or put them in one of those stamp albums. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm in the process of covering some hatboxes so my brain can only think that a hatbox covered in old stamps would be cool. You should ask Kari and Kjisa. Blessings... Polly

Hi Missy Sue,

Ok - I have an idea about how to display your stamps. This just came to me so it may not be well thought out yet - LOL.

Okay - lay all your stamps out and arrange them on a flexible piece of card. Apply some removable tape or some other 'safe' temporary adhesive to fix them in place.

Gently roll up the card with the stamp side facing outwards and slide them into large glass jars or canisters. The card will then unroll inside the jar - forming a 'skin' inside the jar - so you'll be able to see all your stamps - AND they're safely behind glass - AND you can still use the jars to store ribbons or lace or buttons!

Just an idea! :-)
Cheers!

My idea would be to spread them out on a side table and then put a glass table top over them. You'd see them all the time but could use the table too. No gluing or anything. You could use one color of stamps and then in a month or so use another.
